I had the wonderful good fortune to meet Jean at the Palm Springs Public Library, where I work. She came to the Reference Desk to ask a quetion, and I kept thinking her voice sounded familar. Finally it dawned on me...

I shrieked, "Hey, I know who you are now! You're in I Married a Monster from Outer Space!!"

Jean laughed, "Oh honey! You've seen that?!"

Then I remembered her from the Twilight Zone episode with the camera. I was all excited to meet her and she was all excited that this 30-something-year-old recognized her.

She came in many times after that, and would regale me with stories about how she took jobs back in the 50's in B-grade sci-fi movies, not knowing she'd get typecast. I always told her how much I LOVED those movies, whether or not they were B-Grade!

I hadn't seen Jean in the library for a while now. I miss her even more knowing she's not out there somewhere any more.

Bye bye, Jean.  I still love those movies!

My heart goes out to Jean Carson "Hello Doll".  Seems with each passing of someone from the show, I feel like I am losing a family member.  I met Jean Carson at a Mayberry event in Birmingham, Alabama  some time ago. What a thrill for me when she signed Hello Doll for me on the photograph. I took several photographs of her. What a nice lady she was  as there were many behind me waiting to get autographs...Jean to you...Bye Doll...you left a lasting impression on me...
Sincerely,
Sid Aust

My wife and I had the great pleasure of meeting Jean Carson at an event at the Sportman's Lodge in Studio City California in early November of 2003.  My wife's dad was the late long time character actor and musician Dick Winslow.  Among his many credits was Earl the bandleader in the Fun Girls episode.  When my wife mentioned her father to Miss Carson, she remembered him very well and spoke very highly of him.  Miss Carson took my wife's mother's address stating that she would send her a letter saying how much she enjoyed working with Dick along with a copy of a picture she had of her and Dick with Andy Griffith.  Sure enough about a week later a package arrived at my mother in law's home.  Miss Carson was a gracious lady and a class act all the way. It was a honor to have the chance to meet her in person.

There is no way that I can hope to "top" any of the many accolades and laudatory remarks made to (and about) Ms. Carson, other than to note that I was also an admirer of hers.  I don't like to use the word "fan" to describe my fondness for her, because "fan" is short for "FANatic," and I'm not "fanatical" about anyone, but I was most definitely someone who enjoyed her comedic presentations, and I also admired both her interior and exterior beauty.

I sincerely hope that, when she found herself standing before our Creator (and final "judge") that she didn't utter her dharacteristic "Hello, Doll" to Him, but, if she did, I'm certain that His reaction would be to laugh out loud.

You know, I'll bet that God and the Angels in Heaven are laughing a lot more, now that Jean Carson is there.

May God richly bless you, Jean, and your entire family.
